    Ah; as I replied over in Politics:
    I'd recommend supplementing that with with Steve Keen's Debunking Economics as well, because while Mankiw's book may be a standard introductory text, it is (from what I've read from economists critical of the author) heavily loaded with economic 'orthodoxy', much of which is debunked in the above.

    It's probably still a decent introductory text, but you'll pick up a bit of outdated ideology along the way, so good to read critical views of that as well.
