hi. I'm renovating my kitchen and am considering a good quality tile effect laminate for hall and kitchen floor. My reasons in choosing this over porcelain tile are.. 4 young kids, who fall and jump and don't wear shoes in house so for safety and warmth
has anybody had a problem with this tile effect in their kitchen due to leakages or wear and tear.. i know tiles are a more durable, professional finish but just worried for children's safety and coldness on their feet
    any opinions greatly appreciated

Tiles all the way particularly in the hall and kitchen areas. Lots of pros and cons for each, I have a polished porcelain its really hard wearing, when i think of the amount of spills, washing machine/dishwasher leaks I prob would have replaced the laminate five times over. As for coldness issue I have a heat mat installed under them so they're quite toasty to walk on. Good luck with your choice.

I find the laminate excellent .I covered my kitchen tiles over with it and wont be tiling ever again. Its neat, tidy, and easy to keep clean just be mindful to clean up spills as they happen and avoid using chemical cleaners on the floor if possible

That's the beauty of laminate its easy to take it up if things go pear shaped rather than busting up tiles when pipes and the likes decide to leak

'' So your pipes and appliences are under the kitchen tiles then??? ''

Generally you will find pipes tend to be buried under the floor. If you worry about things leaking then would you ever put laminate anywhere in your house for fear a radiator might leak .But getting back on track IMO laminate is fine in the kitchen

I'm delighted to hear your kitchen is plumbed differently to mine. The world would be a very boring place if everything was same don't you think?

I've seen B&Q tile effect laminate laid in a friend's bathroom and it looked quite realistic. It's supposed to be suitable for kitchens & bathrooms.
