Climbing plants

    Hello all,

I want to hide my big green keroscene tank away. I want to put a frame around it and try to grow some plants in pots around the tank with the aid of a climbing frame. I plan to construct a timber frame with chicken wire around the tank & have the plants grow up around the frame. A 4 or 5 foot high frame will do.

So what plants would you recommend that will do the job. Im not too fussy about colours or flower but just something with good coverage.

    Thanks all

Whatever you use, remember that - the oil delivery man has to get close up to the tank, and will not want to have to lean over pots; the filler hose will trail across the pots, tank, etc, they are heavy and do damage; the plants may not be enthused about the fumes, minimal as they are. Also in my case the cats use the top of the tank as a route to the kitchen windowledge - you might not have that problem!

You can tell I have been there, done that. My tank is very high and not very accessible, so I have extra problems but I have not had a lot of luck. I have a jasmine growing up one end in a huge pot, but it isn't doing anything amazing.

Ill leave the top up end open. Its just to cover the front of the tank really. I just need to source a good climbing plant. Not Ivy though

Have you a photo or do you know what direction it's facing? Might be easier to suggest particular climbers if we knew its location. :)

I suppose its south facing. The back of the tank has a 6 foot high wall. It gets plenty of sunshine.
