    Hi

I looking to see if anyone is interested in helping to create a hackerspace for Waterford

A hackerspace (also referred to as a hacklab, makerspace, or hackspace) is a community-operated physical space where people with common interests, often in computers, technology, science, digital art or electronic art, can meet, socialise and/or collaborate.

Here is link to the one in Dublin so you can get an idea of what happens on these meet ups.

Here is also a link to all the hacker spaces in Ireland and clearly the South East is missing out

I have started this on the Waterford City forum

Please post if you are interested

Not sure it is exactly what you are talking about- but the fumbally exchange is setting up shop in Waterford this summer.... find them on facebook.

It is a place for artistic/techie/entrepreneurs to get going in business and offers serviced office space with a start-up vibe.

    Hi Invara,

Luckily enough I was able to get enough people together to get this kicked off.
But I will keep an eye on the Fumbally exchange as it does look like something of interest

What time is the meeting? My particular interest is in a 3d printing, Im about half way through a rep rap build and could use help with the arduino software side of it.

    Hi,

Our meetings are on the 2nd Saturday of each month. Our next one is on the 10th May at the space on Thomas Hill at 4pm.

Here is our website https://wiki.southeastmakerspace.org/doku.php?id=start to keep an eye on what's going on.

A couple of months ago we had a talk on 3d printing and had one available for all members to use. We have a few members interested with 3d printing and would be happy to chat to you.

Mad Maker Tuesdays will now be running from 7-9pm every Tuesday at South East Makerspace. This is an opportunity to bring your projects, whatever it is you are tinkering on and work on them in a group environment. This could be anything from an arduino based project to hardware hacking, digital or interactive art, programming, sound art, circuit bending, photography or knitting. The list is endless. If you are not working on anything in particular why not just come along, meet up, share ideas and most importantly, have some fun.

The next monthly meeting is on this Saturday, 14/06 in the SEMS building, 4 Thomas Hill, Waterford at 4pm (the old Munster Express printing press).
There are no talks for this month as our AGM is due to take place. It will be almost a year to the day that the constitution was ratified unanimously and the committee was elected. Since that day a year ago we have accomplished a lot as a group. Monthly talks on a wide variety of topics from high altitude balloon launches to pinhole photography have been run, involvement arranged in several upcoming festivals, a physical space has been acquired and most importantly makers from the south east have been brought together to work on projects and share ideas. We hope to continue this work over the coming year, if you are interested in joining come along to the meeting or drop by any Tuesday evening to the space between 19:00-21:00 for our open maker night.
