Expat Shield & Windows 8

Has anyone managed to get Expat Shield working with Windows 8? I can get it to install, and it will work when I run it. The problem is that when I shut down/restart my computer, I get a blue screen with a BAD_POOL_CALLER error. Has anyone managed to get Expat Shield working with Windows 8? I can get it to install, and it will work when I run it.
