    Hi
Anyone got any tips for stomach tubing a calf ?

Had a cow with a set of twins the other night and they would not suck for love nor money and ending up spending nearly the whole night trying to get them to suck, so bought a stomach tube today incase the same happens agains.

    Thanks

my sister told me to put it in on the left side of his mouth and check can you see it going in between their legs and throat, u should barely see it sliding down further when its hitting the stomach.

I'll give you a jersey bull to practice on. I don't mind how many calves it takes to get it right.

I find that an easy way is to place calf between your knees, run tube along roof of mouth it will meet a little resistance but it will feel soft, once you pass this point you will feel bulb of tube if you run your hand along the bottom of his neck. You would really want to be rough to put it down the wrong way.

after you've done 1 or2 it will become second nature. Our student who is from the middle of Dublin has become a 'dab' hand at it, then again we had Jex bulls for him to practice on.
