Hey, over the past few years my social anxiety has been really impacting my quality of life (excuse the self diagnosis). Where exactly do I seek help for this and what type of treatment can I expect?

Also if there are any users with advice out there, it is much appreciated. Many people around me cannot understand or even recognise this as something needing professional help.:(

I think your first port of call should be your GP.

woud second the call for seeing a GP; they can refer onto a specialist.

as for treatment,as part of the PI charter we are not allowed to discuss anything specific to do with medications/ armchair diagnosing etc.
but its best to wait till are assessed before focusing on the whatifs;there may not actualy be any treatment given in terms of medication it all depends on the labels given, the specialist, the effect it has on life and how well the individual woud react to a speaking form of therapy.

it is no different than going to a doctor to see them about eg,migraine, sickness etc, so remember the issue is just as valid.
if have got issues with going to see the pysch in a new place full of new people; some will actualy visit the client at home,am not sure how common this is in ireland but am not able to access the community nor the buildings the pysch team is in so they come here instead.

first stop should normally be GP of course.

But i notice that some local PLC colleges run courses on dealing with anxiety issues. Might be worth a try. I presume it's some sort of CBT technique where you identify anxiety causing situations, probably describe moments & feelings in a journal & try to tentatively put yourself with the support of the course leader into some of these anxiety causing situations until the feelings become less intrusive on you.

might be worth looking out for.
