M. Litt TCD

    Dear all,

I know there are many "I am finished my LLB what should I do next" threads but does anyone have information on the M Litt in Law in TCD (aside from the general info on the tcd website).

    Where I am is:

I am a part-time, mature student with a good non-law career at present. On the one hand I feel like I should stay in my current job and do the M Litt to satisfy my ongoing interest in the subject. On the other hand I am considering doing the bar and changing careers (a whole other conversation which has been discussed by various people at great length here).

The M Litt appeals to me over an LLM as exams have really done my head in to date and I think the only reason I would be willing to subject myself to more exam stress is if i decide to do the bar and change careers. I have not yet made that decision.

My question is not "should i do the bar" but rather it is related to the merits and otherwise of the M Litt.

Can I ask what the perception of the M Litt in Law is?
Is it perceived as "weaker" than an LLM?
Is it perceived as a "failed phd"?
Does anyone have some relevant information on it?

    Thanks

If you want to be a lawyer go and get legal experience, that's far better than post grad education for many reasons.

Doesn't answer your question but better advice in my view.

Correct - it doesnt answer my question. Nevertheless it has provided me with a great opportunity to bump the thread

Anyone got some thoughts on this one?

    I gotta make a decision soon :(
