Any general advise for doing this. Would love some fast height (bamboo?) on a large gravelled area.
Bamboo from seed or do you buy plants and how fast will it grow?
Any other trees for this job?

My experience of growing both small trees and bamboo in pots (large pots) has not been great. I had bamboo in a pot for several years and it never stirred, put it in the garden and it grew happily. Bamboo is expensive to buy - I don't know why as the common one spreads like mad.

+1 I could never figure out why it is so expensive or is not more widely available.

Bamboo roots are very advantageous and dont like being in pots crammed up. But will grow if very very well watered.
