Is there any entries from outside the British isles this year? Seems to be a lack of French trained runners in the last few years.

Also what countries have had horses trained in their country that have run at Cheltenham or Aintree? I can remember horses from France, Germany and the USA. Have there been any other countries with runners?

The French are doing very well by just breeding them and knocking a win out of a horse(in france) and simply letting some of the wealthy owners come over and blow their load for crazy prices.

Obv not in all cases, but this is far more lucrative in the main.

Pretty sure a horse called Galileo(not of ballydoyle fame) won at the festival before and was polish trained at the time. Went on to be based somewhere in England afaik

EDIT: after a quick search it appears he was a polish bred horse trained by T.George and ridden by J.Maguire to win at the 2002 festival
