Lads. For the first time ever , I've experienced a few golf injuries. The aging process.
But, I'm sure it is not as simple as that . Too many range balls , poor warm up, poor core strength.

What experience have you had of this.
How did you avoid / what do you do different ?

I would just hate something that would stop me playing, short or long term.

    Mine. Some just pain.
    Lower back
    Right elbow
    Left hip
    left knee.

    Hypochondriac . Lol.

Get the odd back pain from not warming up properly.

Suffering at present with a torn Teres Minor muscle. Been playing golf for 3 years and overuse without strengthening it up caused the tear. Will be back playing in a week or so.

The muscle itself is located at the shoulder blade and helps the lats out when lifting etc.

I've been working on my core the last two years or so no other back pain nor injuries.

    Would swimming cover that area?

Not sure FDP but I would imagine it would.

I'll be moving onto the strengthening exercises this week so I'm not sure whats good for making them stronger.

Lengthen then strengthen is what they say!

I hit 50 balls at the range yesterday which was the first time I picked up my clubs in over 3 months.
I have all of those aches and pains today. Definitely getting old :(:P

My new limit on range is 80.

    Use to be 240

This the cause of the aforementioned.

I stay away from long clubs on range, today in the range id say I only 8 drivers and 8 balls with the 3 wood, 2 x 3 irons, all short club work for that reason. But will only hit max 4 in a row with each club.

I ve had scapulae problems on both sides, and left ankle problems usually minor swelling

Right hand knuckles are all cracked and bleeding, it looks like I was in a fight, must be from the cool weather, but has never happened before and i've played in much colder weather.

Used to get very dry thumb and index finger on my right hand, especially during the winter.
Turns out it was due to a too weak grip, havent had it since I changed.

Other than that I often get sharp pains in my feet when playing...it goes away but means walking a bit funny for a while...

I know, don't know if I should say this. But she has great products for that sort of stuff.

Please stop all this talk lads, I'm getting phantom pains reading it :)

I gave up football for golf as I got fed up waiting until each Wednesday before I could walk again.
Every time I'm out on the course I think to myself, why the hell didn't I pick this up sooner!
My swing isn't great but I still haven't broken my collar bone from it, nor have I knocked myself out cold recently with it :D

Had a tiny bit of knee trouble a while back but they always gave me trouble.
The only real injuries are mental ones!

lower back pain and torn my q.l.muscle on a cold day which took 2years to get right again. i do bikram yoga9(hot yoga) once or twice a week to keep me right. also take 5 minutes strecthing on the locker room floor before and after a game to avoid injury. i do get a few funny looks but its worth it. i don't have a beard and i don't ware sandles :)

After is the one to get head around.

    After is key!

There's mixed thinking about the benifits of stretching before hand.

Stretching muscles that haven't been warmed up can do damage. You should really get the blood flowing and heart rate up before stretching.
Jumping from car into locker room then stretching "cold" muscles is potentially damaging IMO.

But aj- golf does not lend itself easy to after.

    Pint and curry chips ?
