    Hi all

I've just brought my 2010 TDV6 HSE Discovery 4 over from the UK when we moved back (VRT exempt). I paid the tax  as someone had recommend we leave it as a 7 seater as it's more valuable in the long run.

    However, I'm now thinking otherwise.

What do you think - should I convert it (and can I reclaim the tax), or should I leave it as it. Not sure of long term plan - probably hold onto it for another few years anyway. We don't use the 6/7 split, as we have a dog box in there. I can't see us using it ever anyway, especially since I might start doing dog walking, etc. (so would have a commercial reason for needing the loadspace).

    Thanks in advance,

    Emer.

you'll need to take all but the front 2 seats out, since it came in as a 7 seater you could always put it back when you go to sell it

    thanks Doctor.

But someone told me the other day that owing to new legislation, only 6/7 need to come out? I'm aware they could be incorrect.

    Thanks.

the 5 seat discovery (new model from early 2012 i believe) came out of the factory as a type N1 commercial vehicle (lower vrt rate of 13.3%) but it still does not qualify for commercial tax, the old cc rate of 960 a year is paid, but it makes it far cheaper than buying and taxing a new passenger discovery, however I do not think youd get type approval for commercial with 5 seats in your discovery.

Thanks for the info, Eric. I'll look into it via the NCT (in case of loopholes) and if there's any other news I'll let you know.
