I was having trouble with AI holding last year and brought a cow to a neighbour's bull which did the trick. She is due to calve in a couple of weeks.

When I'm registering the calf can I use the bull's tag number or are there any issues with using a bull from outside your herd. I guess the alternative is to just stick down unknown on the sheet?

Yeah, from what i can recall a stock needs to be in your herd. You just say, the bull broke in.

Ya, it'd be safer put down 'unknown'. ;)

you would really land yourself and the other herd owner in serious hot water if you put down what happened. probably Dept would make both of yous have a herd test immediately
