Young hares are at risk , along with the many birds up there .

The wild horses should be able to survive .

The reason the hill is burning is because of under grazing in other words because of poor returns from sheep an ageing farming population and more regulations there is not as many sheep on the mountain to graze down the growth .
The ungrazed material builds up and when a fire starts or is started it burns out of control .
Controlled burning should be practiced on the mountain . If strip burning was practiced it would prevent wildfires . If it is done right we could have more grouse on the mountain . If the strips burnt are too wide the young grouse have too big an open area to cross and get eaten by predators .

Burning is good for the mountain but it should be controlled and we should be allowed burn after the first of march and not be ruled by the EU regulations . The wild life issue . If the material is not allowed build up and is burnt regularly the fire passes quickly and the young hare will survive . There are very few nests on the mountain at this time of year with no young in them just eggs so when the fire passes the foxes and badgers can have fried eggs .
