    Go to your local DIY store, look for a nice timber sheet, have them cut it to your likings and varnish it. Voilá, a shiny new surface for your computer desk.

    Or if you can find Fablon - it's a sticky backed plastic on a roll, variety of colours/styles. There's a knack to sticking it on so you don't get creases or bubbles.
