Im planning a 1 day East to West cycle in August, starting at Clogherhead Louth to Salthill Galway, has anyone done this or have you a route.
Going to fundraise for a childrens Charity, hoping to get 20 cyclists and a road crew.
    All help appreciated.

Cycled Dublin-Galway-Dublin last year over 3 days. Dub to Athlone 1st day, Athlone - Galway - Athlone 2nd day, Athlone- Dublin last day. On way over we cycled Mullingar and on way back used the old Dublin Galway main road. Loved the quieter route over via mullingar, nice quiet route. Have sent you routes used by PM. Enjoy.

Im putting the final touches to this during the week, cycle will take place end of August or early September, meeting up with a Charity that needs support for a child.
Hoping to get at least 25/30 cyclists each to raise a certain amount (not agreed yet) of funds, I also have a main sponsor lined up and a road crew..
Galway fire brigade on standby to escort us from the start..
The plan is to leave Oranmore at 7.30am and arrive in Drogheda at approx 7pm that evening all going well.
Anyone that may be interested Pm me your details.

The first post has changed its now WEST to EAST, hope to have something organised on our return..

We have agreed on a child that is in need of funding, the cycle will more than likely take place on Saturday 7th or Sunday 8th September, its now looking like we will Cycle from Galway To Clogherhead 235klms, dip the rear wheel in the Atlantic at 7.30am and hopefully arrive and dip the front wheel in the Irish sea at Clogherhead around 6.30pm. There will be a homecoming event also with more fundraising and hopefully a presentation of funds raised from all the cyclist.
    If your interested PM me.

We did it last year, Westport to Dublin on Sat and then Dublin to Westport on the Sunday.
Took us 8.5hrs on the Sat and 10hours on the Sunday.
Good luck with it, great challenge and good crack.
I am out with a "spine" issue so can't do it with you I am afraid. Good luck with it.

What route did you take? I intend doing Dublin to Swinford at some point but haven't gone so far as planning a route.

Did Dublin to Galway last October bank holiday weekend

    Route from Dublin:

    Enfield - Edenderry - Tullamore - Bannagher - Ballinasloe - Athenry - Galway.

Probably not the most direct route, but wanted to avoid any main roads.

Route here, we did it 250 each way to add up to 500km to signify the avg 500 lost to suicide each year.
