I am currently in 2nd Year in Secondary school and im thinking of taking an engineering course in university. I want to learn a bit about but i'm not really sure what. Should I learn coding or how does a computer work. Should I get any specific book. Thanks

I don't know much about Engineering in particular, but I'm fairly sure it's your LC results that mainly predict whether or not you get into your course. Anything you do/learn will only be an advantage to you. Talk to your career guidance counselor, he/she will guide you on the right path (in particular when you're picking your LC options).

Do some research into which areas of Engineering you want to get into. That way you can see what type of things happen on those courses and be able to guide yourself better.

Best of luck, don't worry too much about it yet. You've 3/4 years left of Secondary School. You've plenty of time to sort out University!

I did Computer Science but its not too far off Comp Eng. School wise, a good level of Maths will really help (physics or applied maths would also be an advantage but not essential)

As for Coding, check out CoderDojo

Im currently doing electronic and computer engineering in college. All lectures assume you know nothing about programming, computers and electronics so knowing about it before hand might help a little by giving you more time to focus on subjects you arent great at. Maths, physics, TG/DCG and applied maths would be the subjects to focus on. Practicing C, java, C# or C++ is probably a good idea. Getting a basics of 1 programming language tends to help with others but dont worry too much about it. Not sure about any books though

If you're interested in computer science.. I think thats where you're getting at, I would sign up to CoderDojo in your area, good way to learn coding. Learn coding online :) and practice it or maybe make your own website and use your programming knowledge. Programming is the key really, and besides that getting good points in your LC, which is a long way for you :)
