Qashqai+2 engine splash guard removal

Well, butterfingers here managed to drop the windscreen wash reservoir filler cap down into the bowels of the engine bay (on the driver's side). The splash guard on the bottom prevented it from falling through - is this something I can remove myself, or am I headed for a whole world of pain? Bear in mind I'm not the most gifted when it comes to things mechanical :)

There's a hole in this guard on the passenger side, so I presume my cap is going to exit through it at some juncture in the future if I don't manage to extricate it myself - I guess a small, light plastic disc isn't going to do much harm down there? Or should I not drive the car until it's sorted?

The car is due a service in the next two weeks, so I'll get a new cap then, for now I've put a small plastic bag (folded over a few times and held in with an elastic band) over the top of the neck of the reservoir to prevent crud getting in.

It wont do any harm down there but if you want it back you will have to take out the screws/bolts from the undertray to get access. If your getting it serviced in a week or so the cap will probably not have gone anywhere so just mention it to the mechanic.
