Would UL cover the entry fee for an Intervarsity for which a club/soc does not exist?

Im pretty sure the title is explanation enough, but to expand further I want to enter an Intervarsity competition run by ITT Dublin for Brazilian Ju Jitsu. There is no BJJ club in UL but I am eligible to enter anyway given that UL is a member of CUSAI.

Is there any precedent for getting UL to cover the entry cost ? It's only €15, but having it paid for me is nice. Suggestions for who to email my queries to would be nice as well, I've sent one to the SAA because I don't know who to contact.

I imagine it would be a no. Only Clubs & Socs that go through the system of getting recognized and all that are eligible to get any kind of funding.

You could ask the Sports Administrator , Neasa O'Donnell in the Sports Dept, she will however most likely take a dim view if there has been no effort to organise as a club.

Standard staff email format will get her.

Bit of a disaster though. You'd think for something as specialised that there would be some mechanism for people to tie in with another club for insurance purposes....

Try to enter the competition as a guest from your club and ask them to pay.
