Hey people, I did a long research on swords.. But failed to learn anything about my own. I got it from my grandpa. He had it over 20 years, I do not know where he got it from.. Only know he did got it in another country

I was wondering, what kind of sword do I have? Show model, or not.. Value and stuff.
If you guys could help me out that would be great..

The sword is 23 inches, and the sword is bronze with rust on it and little carves like it was hit by a sword.. But then again.. Could be a show model! Thanks

Maybe because no-one knows what it is?

I agree with gobnaitolunacy. Usually, if you don't get any answers it's either because people are not always online or don't actually have any infor on your item.

No worries. Sometimes you can get a reply even months later when someone who knows comes across your sword by chance. Maybe you could also try the Military forum or the History forum?

my guess would be a late 19thc decorative Japanese sword for tourist market. It definitely does not look functional for battle.

here are a few links that might help you identify it:

Look specifically at the bone carved sword (not ivory). Looks very similar to yours and as it says they were made 1870 through to 1930's for tourists.
