I bought a new laptop and an ssd separately. ssd has arrived and I'm expecting laptop tomorrow. As long as I have the os on disc, can I just install the ssd before I ever start up the computer and once the Windows disc is in the drive it will install and all will go well?

    Hi,

Yeah, once you swap the SSD for whatever is currently in the laptop, then you will have to go through formatting the drive, giving the computer a name, entering the license key etc via the windows installer.

Just make sure that the laptop is set to boot from CD/DVD, or maybe there is an option to go to the one time boot menu - depending on the laptop.

    Kojak.
