    Did you hear this?
Germany’s opposition has used its recently acquired majority in the upper house of parliament to delay rules on the implementation of the EU fiscal pact, dealing Chancellor Angela Merkel an embarrassing, if symbolic, blow as September’s general election looms.

Not much about it on INTERNET, just spotted here:

Politicians scoring points against other politicians while normal people suffer as a consequence.

The exact same thing is happening in the States too.

would i be right in thinking that if this does fall on its arse , out budget targets are not going to be as harsh , as in we dont have to meet the crazy limits set in it

Indeed, this might lead to a re-appraisal of our fiscal targets vis a vis budgetary contraction and increased rectitude regarding implementation of frontline down-sizing. This road-block may well lead to a renewed dialogue and greater openess to suggestions for soft-skill re-definition of governmental policy.

Just goes to show, if you can't beat them with bullsh1t, baffle them with b0llox. What's the fiscal pact? I've forgotten. If I ever remembered. TBH.

I have no idea. I don't even know what the stated parameters of the fiscal pact are. I doubt too many others do either. A pact inplies peace through mutual benefit. A fiscal pact might suggest a meeting of interests to strive for financial equilibrium and stability. Somehow, I reckon it will actually end up meaning we get it Biggie Style, up the battie.

Yes, but you're dragging the thread off tracks by trying to get cheap tanks. Anne frankly, I think it's beneath you.

It shouldn't make a difference to us in terms of budgetary measures. Our fiscal deficit targets are outlined in Maastricht and the Stability and Growth Pact.

No point having them outlined there, sure no-one knows where it is and it must be a right pain to keep popping over for a look every time someone has a question. They would be far better off printing a copy and giving it to the lads in the DOF.
On a less flippant note, don't you just love the "stability and growth" bit. "we aim to achieve greater stability and faster growth by slashing public services and decimating state expenditure". They should re-name it the "instability and recession" pact but sure when did a Eurocrat ever decide to call a spade a spade.

It's like the FG election posters - they sent the draft to the printers -"Vote for us for jobs and stability gained through mass emmigration and massive Taxation". The printers rang back and said it wouldn't all fit. FG said, ah well, we tried, just print the first seven words so..

Yeah, stability and growth is essentially an oxymoron. Growth itself by definition means the economy is unstable.
