Been using Srixon AD333's for about a year. Thinking of moving up to a 3 piece ball for the new season though. I believe the Wilson Staff FG's are a very good ProV alternative and about 33% cheaper, might give them a go.

Using Srixon Distance all winter since I moved to a very tight link course, £15 for two dozen and a good all round ball, would lose about/less than 1 ball a round.

Used ProV1 Practice ball all last summer, great ball and used to love the 100 yards and in because it would just stop dead on the green.

Taylormade Penta Tp or Pro V1 for me. Actually prefer the Tm's and they're cheaper too.

Casual games is anything that's in good nick, in competition ProV1 only.
I only buy ProV1's because I tend to find all my golf balls on courses, touch wood I don't lose that many balls these days.

I always buy the most expensive ones.

ProV1s when I'm feeling a bit flush and hitting it reasonably straight.

2nd choice..Top Flight which I think are an excellent lower budget option.

Srixon gets me distance but i seem to putt badly with them compared to ProV1. (Nike are ok also).

hopefully I don't have a terrible round that sees me reaching for the Dunlop stuck in the bottom of the bag:D

Our club pro told me last week that Pro V1's are going to get more expensive this year with Titleists new policy on bulk buying - no discounts apparently. He gave me a box of the new Taylormade Lethal to try and I've used them the last few rounds. Excellent ball, no loss of feel around the greens and just as long for me anyway.

As a high handicap golfer I could take a ping pong ball out of my bag and wouldn't notice much difference to a €6 ball....but....not blowing my own horn, but I consider myself a good putter and its only when putting that I would notice a difference in a ball.
Spent a good bit of time on practice green on putting last year and I have noticed a difference in balls.

I dont think amateur golfers should be ashamed of changing golf balls mid-hole.
For example, take out a prov1 for your chip and putt if you are a little concerned about losing it off the tee, or with a long iron.
Jaysus, ye're meant to enjoy the game afterall.

I use Titleist Velocity or Srixon AD333, couldnt justify using the Pro V1s.
I think its out of the fear of losing a brand new Pro V1 with a dirty slice over the ditch.

I bought a bunch of Ultras last year and haven't worked my way through them yet ;-). I decided to stick with one make after hearing somewhere you'll get more consistent feel around the greens which made sense to me at the time and I think I've noticed a difference.

Also went for Ultras as they prioritise distance and have relatively little spin. I have a fade off the tee which can become a slice on bad days, so I think I need all the help I can get to minimise sidespin. As a medium-high handicapper I'm happy to live with a bit more run on approach shots hitting the green if it means I have straighter drives. A lot of high handicappers go for ProV1's without thinking about the effect all that spin will actually have on their game.

Tried the Bridgestone (e 9 I think) recently- excellent ball.....distance and control wise ....although its difficult to gauge control at this time of year with soft ground etc.....but they certainly are worth a go....a lot cheaper than Pro vs

I'm not a huge fan of the pro v myself.

I like the penta ss they seem to keep their skin and whiteness much better.

As amateurs we all hit bad shots and I found the pro v skin was falling apart along with the ball losing its colour.

If your ball striking is class the pro v probably holds up better.
