hey hows it going, recently I have been having hastle with the alarm going off on my Passat b5, aftermany suggestions I removed the pollen filter and found it in this condition,I bought a new pollen filter from vw dealer for 20 euros, the gasket under it looks a lil different, im hoping this does the trick,

im assuming this is what must have been causing the problem?

The only issue you might have is if the Comfort Control Module is still wet.

Really can't see how the pollen filter effects the alarm.

tmax the alarm is affected in the way that randy hickey mentioned there, if the seal is broken it allows water to get into the passengers footwell of the car where the comfort control module is located and causes electrical problems, the alarm hasn't gone off now in 2 weeks since it aint been raining thank god, but tomorrow ill check it for water as I have to replace the pollen filter housing and do a service!
