Sky+ to laptop or DVD recorder

If I have some recordings on my Sky+HD box that I want for eg. to show to a class, is this possible? I believe that there is some issue with transferring directly to the HD on my laptop because of copyright issues. But I can borrow a Philips DVDR 610 DVD Video Player/Recorder. Will it be possible to watch these recordings? Do I need to buy any specific cables to connect the Sky+ to the DVD recorder?

Thanks for any advice, and please be very basic with explanations. I'm not very savvy with this.

[edit: do I need to sit through the transfer to a DVD recorder in real time, or would there be any way to speed up this process? Otherwise I can just leave it running to transfer during the day while I'm in college]

You can connect the sky plus box to the dvd recorder using a scart lead. Assuming you have the dvd recorder tuned to the tv you just tune the recorder to av or line 1 or line 2 input until you pick up the sky box signal.
Its just a case then of playing the programme you want to record and press record on the dvd recorder. There's no way of speeding it up you will just have to record at its normal speed.
    Hope this helps.
