    Folk's

I have a triton t90xr approx 2years now, over the last month , when in the shower the water either gets cold or very hot all of a sudden.

we have it on the normal setting that we use, but for some reason it changes half way during a shower. any idea's what this could be or how much it would be to fix ?

Clean the head and see if the problem goes.

water in the area is grand, and the head is also clean.

Sounds like a limescale issue but you've ruled that out. Run the shower for a 30 seconds on hot. When you turn the shower off listen to the shower unit. Do you hear anything?

when the water is running, you can sometimes hear the pressure changing going through the triton, it sounds like the pump or something

There's a filter inside the shower on the inlet. If your handy you can take it out and check. If not don't touch. MAKE SURE MAINS POWER IS OFF before taking cover off.

Yes I could do that, on the filter is there anything in particular I should be looking for to see if its faulty ?

No just take it out and see if its clean. It'd be no harm to shut off the water to the shower too. The filter has a spring loaded valve behind it that stops you getting wet but they don't always work so locate the valve in the attic or hotpress

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm having the same problem. I've taken off the shower head, cleaned it, cleaned the filter and hose. I left the shower head off and ran the water on a hot setting, then when I turn it to cold a load of hard black/grey/white bits splutter out of the hose. I've done this for 30 - 45mins. At times when I turn the shower off it makes a "winding down" "whirring" sound.

    What's the damage Dtp79? :(

Blocked heat exchanger I'd say. Lime in your area?

Ye it can be changed. Make sure you're good with wires. Take a pic of the layout of the wires before you take it out. Last time I checked it was 90 for the element. The only thing that is for sure is that it'll happen again within a year if your lucky if you don't install a water Softner I'm afraid

OP what was the eventual outcome? I presume, because there have not been any follow up messages, that the filter was blocked and cleaning it fixed the problem. can you confirm?

    Thanks Dtp79!

No bother. You be better off changing the shower. 200 new or 90 for a patch job on an old shower
