    Hi Guys

Can anyone recommend a 4x4 or car mechanic
who charges reasonable rates on Dublin north side?
Need a simple mechanical repair on a 2003 Jeep
    Grand Cherokee.

    Cheers :)

Just had work done on my grand cherokee with him much cheaper than Jeep dealer.

He is located on south side near rathcoole but worth the travel if your Jeep is driving.

Whats wrong with it might be some thing you can sort your self. ?

    Cheers Dude :D

I'll happily drive a few extra miles, for someone thats recommended.
I'm getting exhaust fumes in the cabin at standstill. Googled it and
on a US Jeep site, the consensus was, something called a C clip thats
at the join of the manifold & exhaust. Or s'thin like that. I've no clue
bout mechanicals. A UK guy on the site said he got it sorted for £100
so I'm hoping my issue is similarly simple/cheap to fix, as I'm off work
with a bad back injury atm.

On a side note. Seen the new Grand Cherokee? Thats my plan in 2/3 yrs
all being well. Definitely going for a test drive sometime soon :D

Your local Exhause centre probably have what your looking for if not spin out to Rokas he opens 1/2 on Saturday.

My rear camshaft oil leak was estimated at 700 to 800 euro by jeep dealer. ROKAS done it for 350. It was a forigen girl who put me on to him and I find his work good. Ive heard only good things.

Is your the 2.7 diesel or a petrol ?

www.jeepforum.com is a good site for information some guys on there from europe with diesels too.
The manifold problem is more common on petrol engines and a c spanner is needed, ive heard some times a stud brakes and needs replacing. But ive not had this problem.

The new 2013 GC looks great but ive not the money can only dream for now maybe in a few years when price drops

There is a new cherokee coming out in 2014 not in showrooms yet but the front looks horrible from the photos released.

    Cheers Visual.

I'll get the mechanic you guys recommended to take a look,
    before I go anywhere else.

Its the 2.7 turbo diesel I have. 2004 Stealth limited edition.
Don't think it was ever officially imported into Ireland by Jeep.
    (Bought it in London)
Had a 98 Grand Cherokee 4.0 before, which was okay when
it was mostly parked up, but gawd was it thirsty.
I get mid 20's around town and nearly 40 mpg on motorways now
and the thing really shifts when you floor it. Looks great too.

Yeh, the new Grand Cherokee looks great, esp inside, but it'll be a
few years before I can even think about one. Luckily my current one
is pretty bomb proof. Had it almost since new and its never let me down.

The Jeep dealership in Campsie outside Derry are ok for parts prices and they've posted me parts to RoI. Plus I use Mansfield4x4 in GB for parts too. Reasonably priced. (both the parts and the courier)

    Thanks again guys :)

Drumcondra has our very own boards star highly regarded Nissan Doctor. Check out his posts on the motors and this forum. I believe he is in Atlas but I would PM him.

The Diesel engined Cherokee was never available in the states as far as I know so the advice from a US site might be off.

The problem doesn't sound like anything that requires any sort of Jeep specialist though, especially since its a Mercedes engine that you have.

Correct only market the diesels where not sold in was US.
The 2.7CRD has Mercedes enginge and transmission. All other parts are the same as WJ 4.7 petrol.

DIY>4x4 The suggestions would benefit all Cherokee/4x4 owners.
