Sorry if I'm not allowed to do this but I thought it was a nice gesture.

I was having trouble with my key, which wouldn't lock my car electronically. I could use the central locking button on the inside of the drivers door from the back seat to lock the car, as the key physically wouldn't lock the car also. Then it started becoming troublesome unlocking the car which was a worry.

So I rang Tony Burke Motors and they said a new key from Toyota would be €166. I went in the next day as I was told I'd need to bring along my log book, to prove I own the car I guess.

They sent a mechanic out the front to look at my car and he happened to lock the car and we couldn't get back in :D

He took my key off out the back to have a look at it and returned a while later after completely replacing the innards. Key works electronically fine again. There is a something wrong with the drivers door lock which I will have to get fixed at a later date as I am all over the place at the moment so couldn't give them a time to do that job.

Off up to the counter, how does €20 sound for the key? A lot better than €166 says I :D

Maybe it's common, maybe it's nothing special, but I thought it was nice of them to fix my existing key and get me going again rather than just order me another for €146 more than I had to pay yesterday.

I get my car serviced there and always found them Ok.

At the last service they did not replace some filters even though they had given me an estimate.

Saving me a good few euro

Are you sure they replaced the chip in the key? It's usually just the batteries that go in these.

There were Lexus and Toyota signs there so I presume they do both.

I'll put it to you this way. The lock and unlock buttons on my key were going all over the place, sticking out at angles etc. Now they're firm and in place. So I can only imagine they replaced the innards as it's like new. Just a battery would not have done that. I think they took bits out of another key, mentioned something like that, my hearing is not the best :o

If that's the case it's sounds like a good price :)

Have had my car served there before, and would recommend them.
