nearly time to be thinking about how to approach this again.

I have a fresh field but infested with nettles last year was wondering could you refresh the field the following way, its been carrying the feeding hoggets over the winter so very bare

    1. spray with MCPA when nettles maybe 15 cms and grass bare
    2. slap of grass harrow
    3. spread high clover mix grass seed with fertiliser in wag tail
    4. slap of grass harrow
    5. roll

or do you need to kill of the old grass and power harrow really?

will roundup kill nettles? used it before and didnt get a great kill, but they could been a bit too advanced when sprayed.

nettles pretty much roundup resistant. best plan would be to spray them with thistlex or similar this year which reduces their root system size which makes them less competitive

Was thinking that but thistlex will kill the clover, wonder could I replace mcpa with thistlex above maybe?

Middle of April at the earliest would be my suggestion

Depends on weather, I'd agree with middle of April. Any one know is the grass seed gone up much in price this year?

Either Grazon 90 or Bandock or even nettleban. Any of these three will kill them. My preference is Grazon 90, gives a slow kill but it will kill them. Using MCPA is a complete waste of you,re time and money

Shouldn't have because there was very little put in last autumn, so there is no scarcity atm.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Haven't done any re-seeding since 2011 but got a price of €70ish for various grass mixes.

A question on reseeding wet ground do most of you use ryegrasses or are any using traditional grass mixtures. Do you find that ryegrass finds it hard to survive and tends to die from sward fairly fast or will plenty of P7K solve the problem
