With Dana White announcing that 100 fighters are for the chop who do you think should be worrying at this point? Were you surprised about Jon Fitch getting the axe?
    I think the following will be getting their papers;

    Amir Sadollah
    Sean Sherk
    George Sotiropoulos
    Dave Herman among others.

Never like to see anybody get cut or would I like to wish it on anybody, in saying that TRT/steroid users/cheats have no place in any sport in my opinion.

agreed but in light of what Dana said do you think any fighters should be worried about getting some bad news?

No actual logic to the cuts at the moment, they cut, people who won, lost, ranked, contenders, tweeted wrong so errr no not really, everyone bar Buffer is on the block

Leonard Garcia. He's lost 4 in a row and is past his best days.

Jeremy Stephens. Lost 3 in a row. He seems to just coast along staying relatively unnoticed. He's just not good enough in my opinion.

Rick Story. Lost 3 of his last 4. I'd say he's gone if he loses his next one.

There's plenty more fighters just coasting along racking up a few wins and losses that are costing the UFC a lot of money. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more relatively big names go soon.

Yeah, but didn't Dana also say he likes to see lads go out there and put on a show as well so Garcia could be saved. Think as long as you're a highlight reel fighter from either getting knocked out or knocking people out, you'll be safe. So standards will drop.
Will be interesting to see how their rankings go when they clear out top 10 fighters.....

Koscheck has to be walking a fine line. On a losing streak and hasn't been involved in a decent fight in ages. Surely should have been cut before Fitch.

No where to go for alot of these guys either. Bellator won't want any UFC cast offs who were deemed second rate as if they blast through a Bellator division when signed up then their product will be confirmed as inferior as far as standards go.

Nick Diaz, waste of a main event and unprofessional. Overrated and GSP will show it. His salary could be used to allow a couple of other fighters develop in the ww division

i don't think going on a losing streak would mean you're out, depends on how you fight and who you are (for PPV views)

Wandy is 3-5 since returning but, IMO, will never get cut because of who he is.

Never cutting anybody would be pretty silly.
I agree that cheats are in danger if getting cut, but TRT users didn't break any rules.

Palhares is certainly one who could be cut soon. Going nowhere in the MW division and is the gatekeeper for the division.

I actually like the ideas of gate keepers like Palhares, Dan Miller, Yves Edwards, Sam Stout. A few who come to mind. A lot of crap and tuf castoffs signed who go 0-2 pn cheap contracts and are then cut.

TRT users didn't break any rules? We;; I have always been a right and wrong kinda guy and it's wrong and I would rather a sport with 100 elite clean athletes than any amount of PED users.

TRT users didn't break any rules?
Yeah. I don't get how you don't understand that. Saying they should be cut for cheating is ridiculous. You don't have to agree with it, but its not cheating.
We;; I have always been a right and wrong kinda guy and it's wrong and I would rather a sport with 100 elite clean athletes than any amount of PED users.
I definitely think its a situation that can be abused. But the reality is they had permission, so turning around and cutting them for using TRT would be bizarre.

If you read my OP I was speaking about sport in general not an MMA organization...
I think it's completely irrelevant whether Dana White, Joe Silva, Keith Kizer, Doctor Phil, Pat McQuaid, Lance Armstrong or You think it's acceptable accordiding to the rules that athletes are pumping themselves with testosterone in order to compete.

    Or am I mad?

Well you posts don't make such sense, but I'm not sure this is down to madness.

    What does not make sense?

You like performance enhancing drugs in sport?

You could applaud an athlete who had a chemical advantage over another?

It doesn't make sense because you are suggesting that people get cut for doing something that they had permission to do. Ive no idea why you cant grasp why that is nonsense.
I'm not sure if you were calling them cheaters to be dramatic, or if don't understand the rules/situation.

"Do I like PEDs in sport?" Is that what you genuinely took from my post. It just a terrible attempt to misrepresent me. Prob the latter.
You could applaud an athlete who had a chemical advantage over another?
Seeing as you mentioned it. The whole point of TUE for TRT is that there is no chemical advantage. But as I said above its open to being abused. It needs to be policed better, or done away with completely. But issues with the current model are completely separate to cutting of fighters.

How can you talk about misrepresentation when my OP in full said

"Never like to see anybody get cut or would I like to wish it on anybody, in saying that TRT/steroid users/cheats have no place in any sport in my opinion."

I can't really put it any clearer than that - best of look with your vision of sport and competition there....

The Dan Hardy bit is brilliant.

No mention of Leonard Garcia, surely he should have been mentioned with with the Dana / Leonard love in.....
But by the looks of it if you go and fight like a man possessed, have no skill, can take and give a punch and last longer than 3-4 minutes, you could potentially be in the UFC for your whole career. Whats not to love?
You can almost see Paul Heyman walking out for the middle of some headline match.

I'd agree with Guida but I like Pat Barry. He's mad one dimensional and never gonna be a contender but he hits like a truck, his last knockout against Del Rosario was one of the best of the year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,455 ✭✭✭weemcd

Can't stand Barry, tries too hard any time there's a microphone around. Last post fight interview he had as an example. As you say he is as one dimensional as they get, there are worse fighters to watch, granted. But I'd like to see ufc trimming some of the fat from HW, literally, Big Country can go too for all I care.
