PS3 YLOD

    So i was at home one day playing FIFA and BOOM the PS3 switches of by itself, So i tried to switch it back on and no hope there and FIFA is stuck inside my PS3 as well.

    Looked it up on line to see what the problem was and all answers lead to YLOD (Yellow Light Of Death).

    So my question is, what causes this to happen and is my PS3 still in warranty, (Got it the day it came out) If not is it a easy fix or will i be better off bring it it a repair shop?

    Any info at all would help.

    how old is it?....at most the warranty is two years, it might only be one in Ireland. if its old the warranty is up. dump it or sell it on ebay for parts etc.

    buy a ps3 super slim or wait for ps4 :)

    Jan/feb 2014 at best I'd say for the ps4.
