Quick question - I assume both RTE Radio 1 and Skynews are available in the Canary Islands, free to air?

You might pick up Radio 1 on LW252, if you're lucky. But you won't find FM. Streaming is your best bet.

EDIT - facepalm... This is the Satellite forum so ignore my post..

Ha no boder. We were always able to get it in Lanzarote but it disappeared in the past few months, and the TV guy says its changed satellite and is a subscription channel now. I can't see any reference to any recent change.

It moved to the Astra 1N satellite. The footprint is different to the satellite it used to be on.

Radio 1 certainly isn't subscription however the Astra 1N satellite won't reach the Canaries. The internet streams are generally reliable though. Sky News is also FTA on Astra 1 at 19.2E so that might be a possibility in the Canaries.
