    I believe they have cargo versions and are sourcing finnair a/c for this potential EI deal. EI will have to supply the Cabin Crew. I could be wrong on this.

    The Finnair's are in storage only being used for charters according to Wiki. That's 4 B752s.

    I think Tenger alluded to it in the other thread, but it is somewhat ironic that such demand for the type has arisen after Boeing stopped production to the lack of orders for the type in 2004.

    Anyone have any idea how popular it is in the US for transcontinental ops? It'd be roughly the same distance as Transatlantic from Ireland I'd imagine.

    word on 'the street' is that there will be 3 75's. Operated by Air Contractors flight crews and Aer Lingus cabin crew. Starting around autumn some time.

    I heard that two will be operated out of Shannon to the states for the summer (JFK,Boston) as they wouldnt be able to fill A330/340 on the route

    I was on a United 757-200 from ORD to SFO last Saturday. It was comfortable enough for the four and a half hours I was in it for, but I wouldn't be particularly keen to spend much more time in one. It was roughly equivalent to flying to the Canaries.

    hello does any one know under who's ETOPS they operate and who will be doing the maintenance

    ETOPS is an acronym for 'extended operations'.

    What you are asking about is AOC, air operators certificate. Seeing as Air Contractors are supplying airframes and pilots, I would assume it's their AOC.

    Will this be as dead as the rumour that EI were getting 747's back a few years ago?

    No.

    Please elaborate as well.

    I heard a rumor going back 3 or so years ago that Aer Lingus were going to be leasing some 747's for a brief period, or there was slight talk of it at least. How accurate that rumor was, I can't say but obviously nothing much more than consideration came of it.

    I don't recall that. However the B757 lease in is not a rumour. It may not happen but it's certainly under consideration.

    But they did get B747's a few years back.............from 1971-95 I believe it was.

    Edit to add sarcasm.....:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    No way EI would have looked at B747's within the last 10 years;
    1-The A330 was so much more fuel efficient. They could have just got more.
    2- ETOPS is the way to go.
    3- Any B747 avail would be out of sync with the all Airbus fleet (post 2005)
    4- Even in the "silly decision period" from 2006-08 EI execs didn't hint at this.

    Titan Airways 752 inbound from Stansted this afternoon using the callsign EIN1109. Is this related?

    I'd want my money back, a bit of a difference between the 75 and 330 :D
