Is South Africa going to be another Zimbabwe?

Apparently since the end of Apartheid, police training is virtually non existent. It might explain the low IQ of these thugs. The guy was an immigrant, no wonder he was afraid to go with them. South Africa will be a basket case in 20 years. Self enrichment is all Jacob Zuma and his crony government are interested in. Forget the 'rainbow nation' claptrap.

Ah yes Zuma, on his journey to marry everyone's daughter in South Africa

I think it is heading that way. Since the ANC got in 20% of white Afrikaaners have left. I think the shock nature of black empowerment was a big mistake. Not only because it bred corruption and ineptitude in powerful places but because of the renewed bitterness it created in the 90% of blacks who are dirt poor.

Shame. The place had/has real potential to be a model for Africa

It will depend on who is being groomed to take the mantle after Zuma.Someone who will work closer with the DA, and the nation can heal, a Malema-esqe character and it could well be ruinous.

It may be a ****ing basket case of a country but every documentary I've seen of the place has made for excellent viewing.

I think whoemever is at the head is just a diversion

The system has been engineered for over a decade for corruption and inequality. At every level of private and public business. Swapping Zuma doesnt solve this.

It would help if they had leadership other than the current ANC lot.

Anyone would swear they had created some kind of Eutopia in the aftermath of Apartheid. Robert Mugabe and other African dictators have done more damage to their countries than all the colonialists combined. And in SA now, they just have black police officers killing blacks (and quite brazenly in public in an age of social media) as seen in the video above. The nationalistic spoutings from the youth wing of the ANC are quite scary. Doesn't bode we'll for Afrikaaners and other foreigners.

It's a very real possibility. Some people cannot admit any flaw to rainbow nation politics, too much invested into it both morally and politically.

I don't think most people realize just how dangerous South Africa is. The amount of murders and rapes committed every year is scary there. Especially for a country that is pretty developed in terms of their cities and infrastructure. For the most part, their police look and seem to be like any other western countries police, except there seems to be an extreme element of corruption or just plain misconduct thrown into the middle.

Its such a strange country...I dont even know.

Watching Lethal Weapon 2 right now on ITV 4.

The South Africans come across as right bastards, being all racist towards Danny Glover.

    The chick is hot, though.

I think that should probably be phrased in the past tense, judging by the cave men in the video above.

Isn't SA the home country of Afrikanners?
So when you say Afrikanners and other foreigners, do you mean not black? presumably you mean Caucasians and those of Indian or other descent.

No I meant all immigrants (of any colour). Although some in Africa would view Afrikaners as 'foreigners' (no matter how many centuries they have been there). The guy in the video was an immigrant from Mozambique. A lot of people in the shanty towns blame immigrants from Zimbabwe and other countries for taking their jobs. And the vitriol coming from some sections of the ANC makes caucasians particularly vulnerable. If a land grab along the lines of that in Zimbabwe takes place the country will be ruined.
