Is it against regulations to post promotional content - even if said content is of interest and value to users?
i.e. wanted to promote a free rugby quiz on the rugby forum - where there's a huge prize give away.

    Do not want to spam.

Generally yes it's not allowed, though for free stuff that's of specific interest, the local mods have discretion to make an exception. Go to the forum and you'll see the names of the mods listed at the bottom. PM them and ask them if you're allowed to post it.

Spamming and advertising are expressly prohibited without prior permission. If you want to post something like that, ask the rugby mods first. With no history of contributing to the site, it's far from certain that they'll allow it.

Thanks for your quick responses. Don't seem to be able to pm mods at this stage as we're new and as such have less than 25 posts.

The "we're" part is a little concerning. Are you attempting to represent a group or company?

Free quiz site - wholly interest based, like this site. Will refrain from posting. Thanks for your time :)

If you intend to represent a group/company/charity, there's another option. You could get a verified representative account. Email reps at boards.ie to see what options exist.
