Getting a Soil Sample Done

Hi, We have never got a soil sample done on the land. Just wondering how do you go about this? Do you have to buy equipement yourself to take sample and send it to some lab or does someone come out and do this? Also do you take samples from different fields on the land or just one. Any advice on this and who to contact about this is appreciated. thanks

Get Teagasc or your local Agri Consultant if you have one -

They generally take a number of samples depending on the size of the field - generally 4 or so. in regards to how many fields, that totally depends on how many you want done.

Charge is approx 25e per sample i.e. 4 samples in one field is 25e

Also, samples need to be taken when no recent fertiliser or slurry etc has been added to get true results of soil.

Are you with teagasc?, if so they will sample and analyse
If you do any amount of business with a merchant they should also have a service.
