What to do with my HTPC build...

    So I have built the following HTPC/light gaming machine as a little project for myself:

    Antec Fusion case with IR control
    i5-750 Quadcore
    Radeon 6770
    4gb Ram
    1TB hdd + 60GB ssd
    Pinnacle 7010i Dual Dvb-s/ Dvb-t
    300mbps wireless N
    Win 8 Pro + WMC 8
    Media Center remote + Logitech k400 keyboard
    Xbox controller / wii remotes

    Now that the hardware is done I realised I gave no thought at all to the software side of things and what I want it to do!

    So far this is what I am thinking:
    • Games: Light PC gaming with Xbox controllers (Fifa etc), Dolphin, classic games emulator
    • Tv: Saorview and UPC analogue (no satfor the moment). Would like EPG but not bothered with recording
    • Streaming: Live football via Sopcast etc. Possibly netflix
    • Download: Have Rapidshare eccounts etc. Possibly to remotely search and download files via phone or laptop? Is it possible control HTPC from work and initiate downloads remotely?
    • NAS: Able to access movies/music etc from HTPC on phone and tablet anywhere in house.
    + any other ideas people have that my machine would be able for

    I am quite new to the HTPC world so not sure whats possible or not (ie remote access etc) or what s/w would suit best (WMC. XMBC etc)

    Any help recommending programs/plugins/tutorials/functions/ideas etc would be much appreciated!

    My software setup consists of Win 8 pro + XBMC v12 FRODO which now has PVR support (I don't use it for PVR). You can set it up to use a mySQL database to share the library across multiple devices including live TV. mySQL server can be run from some NAS boxes.
    For downloading I use usenet (SABnzbd + Couchpotatoe + SickBeard) all of which have browser based UI which can be accessed from anywhere over the internet including smartphones. This setup it is far superior for automation than either torrents or filelockers. SABnzbd can also be run on some NAS boxes that support python.
