Hotpoint CTD40 condenser dryer water container not filling at all - help??

    Hi all,

My Hotpoint CTD40 condenser dryer is working but instead of depositing the extracted water into the reservoir it seems to be depositing it into an area behind the condenser.

I checked the water container and the inlet is clear/not blocked but no water is going into it. I thought the tip of the output pipe (I assume there's some sort of output pipe) which routes the extracted water into the water container might be blocked but because the inlet into the water container is at the back of the container it means the outlet pipe must be at the very back of the machine and I'm unable to get my arm in there far enough to feel around for it.

Any suggestions as to what might be causing this and how to fix it?

    Cheers,

    Ben

I'm not overly familiar with that model but most of them are the same. Most have a type of condenser matrix that's used to convert the steam back into water. This gets caked up with lime deposits over time and as such becomes very infective and the dryers typically emit loads of steam to the room they are in.

I have a simular model and the same thing was happening. ie the water was lodging in the condensor and not filling the tray then it start tripping

what i found was if you pull the condensor out completly there is a small hole about the size of a cotton bud and it blocks with fluff. This prevents the water getting through to the pump to travel up to the container.

If you clear this then dry out the area with something like a hair dryer it should work ok.
