PAYPAL and EBAY scam, might be around for a while but this is the first time i saw it

i have a few things for sale on ebay and i got a mail from a ebay user asking question about my items, all above board so far, then he offered to buy two of my items and asked me to provide my paypal email so he could make the payment, a little dodgy but happens all the time to save on ebay fees, then i get two e-mails which i will post below.

if i wasnt a seasoned ebay and paypal user i could have been caught out so please be aware and be careful.

Alter your settings to prevent bidders from countries like Nigeria, Eastern Europe etc. will get around this problem.

On ebay the guy was registered from Poland with a .pl e-mail address, the ebay user is no longer registered cause i checked this morning i wanted to report him to ebay.

i did send the two e-mails to spoof@paypal.com which is paypals address for these types of mails.

As I say, alter your settings to exclude buyers from dodgy countries - in terms of unreliable postal services and scamming.

As i said in my first post, i'm a fairly seasoned ebayer and paypal user so i was able to spot this a mile off but i just wanted to make people aware that these guys are out there and to be vigilant.

this thread is a great place for people to learn about buying and selling online and the safer people are the better it will be for us all.

I'm not a seller, but I did get a receipt supposedly from PayPal yesterday (spoofed email address, naturally) saying I bought a $150 watch and the recipient was based in the US. I checked my PayPal account and the card associated with it - fortunately nothing was taken. The links in the email led to Microsoft's US homepage, oddly enough.

I forwarded on the email to PayPal and changed my passwords just in case, not much else I could do I suppose.

had a similar case a few years ago even threatened me with ebay lawyer was pissing meself laughing needless to say i took the piss out of them

Yep got the same yesterday, although I copped on to it when he asked me for my PayPal ID and then to,send payment request to his email.

I then would have probably got the same email you got pretending to be from PayPal.

His eBay I'd is bblblaj30, so beware. This person had a U.K address listed.

It was my first sell on eBay and just my luck of course, but they probably specifically target people new to selling.

He also had no feedback what so ever.

Worst thing is I have to wait 4 days to file a non payment, then I have to wait another 4 days and if he hasn't paid by then I can cancel and relist .

The reason for this seemingly is if I cancel he can then give me bad feedback and if you cancel the proper way he is prevented from doing so.

8 bloody days is a complete waste of time and a pain in the arse.

He clicked on the buy it now, so there is nothing anyone can do about it which is worse, it wouldn't be so bad if you could cancel there and then.

Sometimes I really hate people, they can be such scum !!!
