Gervais to reprise Brent in 'The Office Revisited'

Ricky Gervais is bringing back David Brent for a one-off episode of 'The Office'.

The funnyman actor has decided to reprise the role of the cringe-worthy boss in a special show, entitled 'The Office Revisited', which will see David aiming to become a Simon Cowell-type music mogul.

Viewers last saw David trying - and failing - to crack the charts in the two 'Office' Christmas Specials in December 2003 and now he will be seen trying to break urban act Dom Johnson.

Ricky told The Sun newspaper: "I thought it was time to revisit my most famous comedy creation to find out what he's been up to for the last decade and most importantly what he's up to now. He is passing on his wisdom to younger would-be rock stars now.

"Well, really he is trying to worm his way back into rock and roll. Fans of 'The Office' will be excited to know we finally get to hear the whole of 'The Serpent who guards the gates of Hell' and an amazing Brent self-funded video 'Equality Street'. Horrendous."

However, David - who was fired from his job as the general manager of Slough paper merchants Wernham-Hogg - hasn't had much success and earns a living by selling cleaning products door-to-door to fund his dreams.

'The Office Revisited' has been made as part of BBC Comic Relief and airs on March 15.

    Looking forward to this :D

Ah it's for Comic Relief! I would have much rather a follow up episode where they meet up with all of the original Office cast members and see how life has treated them since the cameras stopped recording.

The comic relief skit of The Office:The Opera was very funny last time.

You know that episode in the US office, that Ricky did a special guest appearence. It would have been nice if they brought David Brent in for the last season. Maybe have David find sucess in the US. That is assuming that both the US and the UK office are in the same universe.

Sounds like Gervais has finally realised that everything he's done since "The Office" (apart from a few episodes of "Extras") has been complete crap, (the ultimate low being the appalling "Derek") and decided to revisit the one good thing he's done.

    In your opinion.

Even taking your opinion as fact, he definitely hasn't realised that. It'll be a short enough skit for Comic Relief. He does one most years and this was probably the best idea he had for it. I'm glad it's just this and not a full-blown sequel. The Office is my favourite show and it ended perfectly.

we need a thread cull or merging with all the Gervais threads!

Essentially, he played the same character since The Office. His character in Extras poked fun at the same things: gays, religion, ethnic minorities. I liked The Office and Extras, but find he just rehashed the same jokes/subject matter over and over...

This is down right RUDE!, its not "crap" I am being a good contributer by alerting the mods of a repeated thread topic that could be merged into one.

As for my "'drivel"....... , fire away, delete at will...I stand by my thread choices.

He's made me laugh many times since hitting the US, I liked ghost town and the invention of lying and he was brill in night at the museum 1&2 even though only a small part.. Very funny in the Simpsons..
Easy to critisize from your armchair!

I searched was there a thread about this topic the office revisited, there was none, so I thought a good idea to create a thread alerting people there is a new episode out this month.Bumping a old office thread people would assume its about a episode 5 years ago

Can you like to another thread discussing Gervais's return to his most famous role that isn't over at least a year old?

There's no need to clean up the forum and if you feel the need to report a post or thread you do not have to then post in said thread about it. It comes across as little more than an attempt to add one more to your post count. That and it comes across as childish tattle tailing and/or gloating. Had the mods responded with a "Richard is so right about this" I'm sure you'd have pointed it out to all of us.

You could bring a lot to the forum Richard but you need to look at how you post. The majority of your threads are simply copy and pasted articles or descriptions from torrent sites, some with snide nasty added remarks about an actress for good effect.

The rest of your posts seem to be made up of 3 types of comments, comments such as "first eppy is out" and them a day later "anyone see first eppy, thoughts?" Then you have the incessant posting of ratings and gloating about how you "know" this show will be cancelled and then spend years posting how this is the last year if this show. The last type of your posts are defensive posts when someone calls you on some of the crap you put up here.

There is a small, small number of posts where you actually engage in discussion and if I was you it's what I'd be concentrating on. You seem to think that you are boards self appointed alerter of all new shows but for anyone with a passing interest in television there are a thousands site out there offering the exact same thing as you, well before you do. Hell in a lot of threads here a user will post something only for you to pop up a day later with the exact same news.

There's no need for it Richard, we do not need a thread for every show months before it airs and we do not need an update everything a catering company joins the production.

    .

When I read Richards post I assumed he was referring to the second thread been

I could not have sumed it up better myself. A pal of mine thinks i dislike derek because i have something against ricky but that couldnt be futher from the truth. Let be honest, derek was a comedy that didnt work so it was rehashed as a drama/cimedy. Its a painful last ditch for of fame from ricky. The office was up there with the bestt comedies but its down hill since then. he did do a very funny skit for comic relief a year or 2 ago.

I think both threads can stand as they are drastically different in tone. This one is more of a discussion of the show while the other is more of a rant than anything else. To merge the two would mean that any discussion here would most likely turn into post after post of back and forth on why it is or isn't a good idea.

Completely different characters in The Office and Extras.

In The Office he plays an oblivious fool, along with Gareth. Everyone else in the office is aware of him and his shortcoming but he is not.

In Extras everyone else is the oblivious fools and he is watching them as the enlightened character that can see everything for what it really is.

Complete role reversal in those two shows.

You have somehow made me feel ashamed to click on your link:P

I would love to see a sketch following more of his dates from the internet site that Garret got him on.
