I got 2 wisdom teeth extracted 3 weeks ago and now there is a tooth pushing up through my gum
I can actually feel it trying to break through:eek:
    Is this normal?
    Thanks

    Not Your Ornery Onager

Possibly a fragment of bone or of the old tooth?

It's possible alright! I know someone it happened to.
    Anyway: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperdontia
You should visit your dentist. I reckon he might do an xray to make sure it won't cause you problems.

Having supernumery tooth is uncommon, most likely a bit of bone or fragment of tooth. Best see you dentist and get an X-ray.

Loose fragments of bone can work their way out of the socket after an extraction, no big deal, just keep the area clean with salt water etc....

If the fragment is not loose and is an area of sharp bone then most likely the body will remodel it and effectively smooth it for you (over time)

Rarely, a fragment will need to be removed or a sharp area may need to be smoothed if not settling itself.

Your dentist is on top of this....
