    Buying first house.
I paid the estate agent a €2500 booking fee.

I have received the contract for sale for my signature.
On the particulars of the purchase price it lists:
    Purchase price . . € amt
    Less deposit . . . .€ amt
    Balance . . . . . . € amt

No mention of the $2500 booking fee. Is it a given that the estate agent will return it to me? Or should it be credited as a part of my deposit already received? Or...?

that should be considered as part of your deposit 110% it is not meant to be returned its meant to be part of the deposit

Thanks, D3PO. It seemed so to me, but I wasn't positive. My solicitor didn't pick up on it. Will get back to him on that. Thanks again.

You paid a 2500 "booking deposit", in part-payment for the house. Now it's time to pay the rest (purchase price - 2500).

Calling it a "booking fee" just leads to confusion, because it's not a fee.

In my experience Booking Deposit is held by the agent in most cases. When I do a Sale Advice Note (given to all parties & solicitors) the breakdown is like this
    PURCHASE PRICE: € xxxx

DEPOSIT: Booking deposit already paid to agent: € xxxx
Balance of deposit: € xxxx (10% of PP less booking deposit)
to be paid on signing of contracts.
