Family friendly cycling routes?

    Hi,

I'm looking for some nice cycling paths, trails, routes etc., that are family friendly, i.e. suitable for the kids on a trailer and bike seat.
There is not much official coverage of pathways online, although Coillte do have 3 trails, but they are in Limerick and Galway.

    I live in Dublin.

So far I have found Phoenix park, Ardgillan castle, Newbridge House and the coastal run along Clontarf into St Annes park, oh and Malahide castle.

I fancy Wicklow but finding it hard to find suitable pathways or routes.

    Anyone got any contributions?

In South Dublin, you could try Tymon Park & Marley Park.

Tymon has three duck ponds, an 'adventure playground' (for older kids) and a kids play ground. Also has a wooded area you can cycle through.

Marlay Park also has kids play areas, a 'Fairy Tree' tree lined paths etc.

Officially you're not really allowed to cycle in either park. But, this is overlooked when you cycle respectfully. I have never heard of anyone getting told off by the park rangers.

I haven't been but has anybody here tried the butterfly farm near Cellbridge / Clane? Open during the summer only.

AFAIK, the Tinahely railway walk is at least partially open, which would be a good option in Wicklow. Nearer to town, you've also got the reservoir tracks out by Glenasmole

I often take a spin up to and around Marlay with my 9 year old daughter at the weekend, which is pleasant enough but quite crowded. Nice hot food break options at the farmers market afterwards, which always goes down well.
