Hi, I had a premolar extracted last Friday morning, it now Wednesday evening and my gum is still sore enough, enough to need to take a painkiller. Thankfully I not in the rip-roaring pain that I was in to need extraction in the first place but thought it would be more healed by now. Any thoughts?

the gum heals over at a rate of 1mm per day.
it shouldn't really be painful a week later, other than the feeling of a punch in the face, depending on how straight forward the extraction was.
    sounds pretty normal really.

Just don't smoke, last thing you need is dry socket.
My dentist in Limerick stitches up extractions,a nice tight dissolving stitch.
