    Just look what they did to Macrooms 13th century bridge

    That's never a 13 th century bridge ... Is it ?
    And how else would you clip on a seperate pedestrian footpath? To widen the bridge ?

    Both shots are from different sides of the bridge I think.

    Would think the bridge is 16C. Still though, looks terrible what they did to it.

    there arent two identical castles and pubs there, so view is from same side.

    seperate footbridge would have been more acceptable and a lot less intrusive.

    Maybe, although viewed from a distance it shouldn't look too bad , and a separate pedestrian bridge of that length may well have obscured more of the old bridge, is there a pedestrian clip on , on the other side of the bridge as well .... (the castle park side)

    Like Slane - an extremely old bridge is carrying heavy 21st century traffic on a national primary route -a disgrace really.:(



    ...that said, it does say a lot about how well these masonry bridges were built back in the day - of better quality IMO than many modern concrete and steel affairs.
