Was probably said already, but you can buy the Irish Times in Trinity College Dublin for 80c as opposed to (I think) €2.00, in any of the SU shops.

The handiest shop is probably in the front entrance, through front arch and take a left.

Same goes for the Indo and other Irish newspapers I think. Don't know the exact price but a guy in my office gets his Indo in there every morning on the way to work.

Is this shop open on a Sunday? Does it sell discounted Sunday newspapers?

DIT Shops seem to be open, and there are far more campuses across the city. Most papers (not just the rubbish Irish ones) on sale cheaper. FT, Guardian, NY Times, etc.

Anyone know who subsidizing the cheap newspapers? I'm guessing it's the tax payers as per usual.

The student price is set by the newspapers, so they aren't subsidized.

You got your dig in at the government and students there anyway, so I guess that's not important.

I would guess it's a business decision by the newspapers to get college students buying their newspapers in the hope they will continue once they leave college.

Yes and also to bulk up their circulation figures at the same time.

Totally forgot, will find out about other newspapers on Monday... I always figured it was only the Times that was cheaper in Trinity, could well be wrong tho!

Why anyone would buy the Irish times is beyond me.It's a dreadful leftie/politically correct rag.Boring beyond belief.

The Indo is only good for wiping up when out of bogroll

The OP was just trying to let people know where to get cheap newspapers..

This is isn't After Hours. Take the smart comments elsewhere.

    Okay, went in today...

Seemingly all Irish papers are cheaper, The Guardian is also cheaper.

Shop opens at 7 on weekdays, 10 on Sundays.

The girls didn't seem 100% sure which papers were cheaper until they scanned them, so give it a go anyway.

This is for students though. I dont think its right to do it, if you're not a student.

If you're too tight to pay €2.30 for a newspaper (IT - Saturday), well I dunno, just, wait until the next day and pick it up for free.
