    Hey,
Is anyone else having problem's trying to eat after a long run?
I can go no bother up to 20km and feel hungry and able to eat but it seem's like anything above that i can't face food at all,i'd go so far as to say it make's me feel sick :( I bring a race belt and have an electrolyte drink and a second bottle with water and also some food or gel's.
It could take me up to 3/4 hour's to be able to face food,i do manage a recovery drink but that's it.
Am i doing something wrong? Or has anyone else come across this?

I found that before after long runs. I was training too hard, to many miles and not enough calories. After a long run, I'd have really low blood sugar and felt sick. How is your diet and training going? Do you think you could be over doing it?

Happens me after long runs too, always has done. I don't see it as being a problem. Just get a recovery drink in and some simple calories from sweets/fruit and wait to eat a solid meal when your stomach is ready for it...

How many gels etc would you bring for say up to 16-17 miles?

It could be that your digestive system doesn't react well to them.

I've had this problem too. i would feel sick after a long run whether or not i had taken gels during my run. did lots of research and think my problem is salt loss causing nausea so i experimented with eating a sachet of salt and drinking lots of water immediately after my run. result. no nausea! works for me. forgot to take it after a run two weeks ago and felt horribly sick for about three hours.

Yeah,it's been happening since i started increasing my mileage, for some reason it seem's to happen when i start pushing past the 20km mark.I think i'm ok with nutrition.... i think (apart from the odd weekend breakout :) )
I thought it was normal but some other runner's i know think it's wrong but can't explain why.
When it comes to gel's i would usually take one after the 7 mile mark and judge from there wether i feel i'm lagging or not, also i always bring a few haribo jellies with me i know that sound's odd but i find they always work a treat.Might try the salt idea though, think i'll make a try on anything at this stage :)
All advice welcome and i'm really glad to see i don't seem to be the only one that suffer's from it

Had a similar problem after long runs, my body was screaming for food but I could hardly look at it, took a 3/4 chewable vitamin C one day after a run and hey presto I sat down to my meal 10 minutes later.
