Good thing with boards is you hear of new things.See on here people using oxytocin to help relax ewes that arent opening naturally.....do you have to get vet prescription for it?,how much roughly per bottle is it? and what amount of cc or timing to give it? do people use when faced with a tricky lambing. Thanks for any info.

We get it from the vet, €18 for a 50cc bottle, give them 1cc intramuscular and leave for half hour, sounds a small amount but overdosing will stop them lambing completely, it also helps milk letdown if you give it after lambing, some ewes lamb without milk for no reason and it will cure that

about €8 for 50ml bottle from your vet

I use it if a ewe has ring womb or isn't opening up naturally I usually give about 4 to 5 cc into muscle (have been reprimanded on boards previously that this is an overdose, but that;s what I use without issue)

Important after giving leave the ewe as undisturbed as possible for a while , if agitated or excited it doesn't work to it's full potential

1 to 2 cc also helps milk let down after lambing

other than above it has no benefits and should not be used blatantly

EDIT was multi tasking and didn't ranchers post , BTW you need to have a serious chat with your vet re prices

It's written on our bottle that 1cc is enough and it usually is, yours sounds like a weaker product, It's costing you up to 80c per ewe and its costing me 36c/ewe, so I reckon I have the best value
