Hi, I want to buy our son a model of a tecnam sierra from a firm in the phillipines that makes wooden models, it takes about four weeks or so plus postage, anyone done business with one of the firms. Why i ask is that they advertise on ebay, but as we want some changes to plane registration they have sent an invoice direct.
Should one contact ebay or is this the norm?
Appreciate a quickish reply as we are buying as a birthday [present, thanks

I agree. I have bought quite a few things off ebay....but always from UK/Irish sellers.

I have seen the wooden models advertised.....thought they would be nice to have. But a bit hard to justify to the missus fro myself.

Friend of mine ordered a custom painted model for me a while back, painted to match the full size one that I used to own, and kept quiet till it arrived, then put it in among his display cabinet models and gave me a call. It's not often I am speechless, but this was one of those moments.

The model I have is guarded very carefully to keep it away from little fingers, but the shape, craftsmanship and finish are excellent. They are advertised in a number of places, but I think they all come from the same group of people in the Phillipines.

I am very pleased with the one I have here.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

I know a chap who bought ones of those models and they are a lovely model indeed. But don't forget the customs charges when they get here on top of the costs. He got stung for a good few quid but can't remember exactly how much. Was somewhere around 30-40 euros

Thanks everyone, will post a picture when we get it, which they estimate something like six weeks.
Yes they cost, it's our bob's birthday and he is having lessons in a tecnam sierra, at this age we can spread the cost, probably once ot twice a month.
In the mean time we are acquiring models of Boeing's and Airbus, however thinking we might try putting a kit together.
Any way it is fun being a Dad, even if my style of driving isn't fast or furious.
    Regards to all Foxy

Hi, our Tecnam has just arrived from Island Corp in the Phillipines, the packaging was perfect, the plane being wood was in one piece, I admit we were a bit apprehensive but the service and quality was just perfect, one very delighted 12 year old.
When I get the hang of it will post the picture.
By the way no customs duty to pay, hooray. Foxy
