    Hi,

I live in a rented house where we have UPC. There is no aerial on the roof, just UPC cable.

I have a TV in my room which I watch movies on the odd time but would like to be able to watch some television too. Can I get a rabbit ears type of job that will pick up some of the saor view channels?

What are my options? Will the reception be any good? Living in Dublin 4

An indoor aerial should be able to pick up Saorview ok.

Buy from Argos and you can use the money back guarantee if it doesn't work sure.

Get one of the aerials from one of the Euro 2 shops they will work just as well.

Aren't they analogue? Do you mean one of those plus a box?

No such thing as an analog or digital antenna. If your TV is Saorview ready you should pick up a decent signal in D4 with a simple indoor aerial antenna no probs. If the TV is not Saorview enabled, you'll need a box too.

Oh, and this belongs in Terrestrial, not Satellite!

All Saorview STBs or TVs require an aerial of some sort attached to them to receive a signal, none with integrated aerial.

An integrated aerial wouldn't be good enough, the transmission network is designed for use with external roof mounted aerials in most cases. The same applies worldwide.

No such thing as a ' digital aerial' or 'analogue aerial' or 'digital tv' etc,

An antenna (or aerial) is an electrical device which converts electric currents into radio waves, and vice versa. It is usually used with a radio transmitter or radio receiver. In transmission, a radio transmitter applies an oscillating radio frequency electric current to the antenna's terminals, and the antenna radiates the energy from the current as electromagnetic waves (radio waves). In reception, an antenna intercepts some of the power of an electromagnetic wave in order to produce a tiny voltage at its terminals, that is applied to a receiver to be amplified. An antenna can be used for both transmitting and receiving.
